Expert Tells The Media Line: Iran Facing Difficulties in Containing Coronavirus (AUDIO INTERVIEW)

Prof. Paul Hunter: ‘It’s not so much about politics, it’s about what we can do to help countries manage the outbreak themselves’

Iran has been coping with the most deadly outbreak of coronavirus outside China. What’s more, Tehran has come in for criticism over late reporting – it made no public mention of confirmed cases until the first two victims had died – and it has consistently been reporting what is the world’s highest ratio of deaths to cases.

Prof. Paul Hunter is an infectious disease expert affiliated with the University of East Anglia in Britain. He tells The Media Line that, to him, “it’s not so much about politics, it’s about what we can do to help countries,” noting that Iran is indeed facing difficulties with both the outbreak and containing it.
