Israel Moves to Halt Turkey’s ‘Subversion’ in Eastern Jerusalem (AUDIO INTERVIEW)

Foreign Minister Israel Katz has directed his staff to devise and implement a program to “stop Turkey’s incitement and subversion in East Jerusalem.”

While details of the plan were not forthcoming, Jerusalem has for years been concerned about growing Turkish interference in what it considers its undivided capital. Ankara has poured tens of millions of dollars into the contested area with a view to gaining influence.

Turkish President Recep tayyip Erdogan considers himself one of the leading champions of the Palestinian cause, and is a supporter of the Hamas terrorist group.

The Media Line discussed the matter with Dr. Gallia Lindenstrauss, a senior research fellow at the Tel Aviv-based Institute for National Security Studies who specializes in Turkish foreign policy.
