A Look at the Forces on the Ground in Syria Now that ISIS has been Dislodged (AUDIO INTERVIEW)

In recent weeks, most of the attention paid to Syria centered on the Syrian Democratic Forces, a US-backed coalition based around a Kurdish militia, as the SDF methodically dislodged Islamic State from its last populated enclave with a noisy, bloody and bitter fight.

With the dust settling, though, it’s clear that Syria’s civil war is far from over. Rebels or foreign forces still hold territory, and there are plenty of questions as to what comes next.

For a who’s who on the ground, The Media Line spoke with David Butter, an analyst of Middle Eastern politics, economics and business at the Royal Institute of International Affairs in London.
