13 omicron variant cases found on 2 S. Africa to Amsterdam flights
Some 13 cases of the new omicron coronavirus variant were found on two flights from South Africa to Amsterdam. More than 600 passengers arrived on the two flights on Friday; 61 people tested positive for the coronavirus, with 13 of those cases turning out to be the new variant. Shortly after, the Dutch government restricted air traffic from southern African countries over the variant. All of the passengers on the flights were vaccinated or had tested negative for the coronavirus before getting on the airplane. More people on the flights could still come down with the virus.
