Australia to reopen borders after 18 months

Australia will reopen its borders, allowing its citizens stranded in other countries to return home and others to travel abroad in the coming weeks. The announcement comes 18 months after the countries borders were closed due to the global pandemic. The borders will reopen when 80% vaccination targets are met, Australia’s Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced Friday. The ban currently is in place through December 17m but could be lifted at least a month earlier. Fully vaccinated Australians will be able to quaranteen at hoime for seven days upon their return, rather than the 14-day mandatory quarantine at a hotel.
