CDC approved Pfizer booster shot for children ages 12-15

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has recommended the Pfizer booster shot for children ages 12-15. The announcement came on Wednesday after the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices voted 13-1 in favor of granting emergency use approval for 12- to 15-year-olds to receive the boosters at least five months after their second dose. The decision came two days after the US Food and Drug Administration approved the booster shot for that age group. Some 5 million children became immediately eligible for the booster shot. The CDC had authorized the Pfizer vaccine for use as a booster in ages 16 and 17 in December.
