Lockdowns led to temporary improvement in air quality
Restrictions due to the coronavirus led to a temporary improvement in air quality in places around the world, according to a new report issued Friday by the United Nations World Meteorological Organization. Air quality improvements and drops in pollution occurred in many places, especially urban areas, according to the report, which compared the times of the lockdowns with the same periods in 2015-2019. Air quality began to deteriorate quickly again after lockdowns, however.
