The German ban on passenger flights from the United Kingdom is now expanded to include passenger transport by rail, bus and ship. The new measures took effect at midnight between Monday and Tuesday, a day after the initial ban on airline flights from the UK. The German Health Ministry said that these measures were in effect through January 6. Due to the coronavirus variant’s appearance in South Africa, the same ban applies to travel from that country, the ministry noted. Exceptions exist for mail, freight and health and humanitarian flights.
