Italian government votes to require vaccination for ages 50+

Italy’s government in a unanimous vote adopted a measure that requires people 50 and older to be vaccinated against the coronavirus. The decision on Wednesday comes as the country deals with record numbers of coronavirus infections. The penalty for refusal was not announced. Italians 50 and older will be required to have a special green pass showing that they are fully vaccinated or recovered from the virus in order to enter their place of work. The requirement goes into effect on February 15. Vaccination also is required for all health care workers, school teachers, members of the military, police officers and university employees, regardless of age.
