The US states of New York and California lifted most of their remaining restrictions to prevent the spread of the coronavirus on Tuesday, the same day that US deaths from the virus rose above 600,000. The US has the highest number of deaths worldwide from COVID-19. Nearly 65% of Americans have received at least one dose of a vaccine.
