Pfizer says vaccine 100% effective after 4 months for ages 12-15

Pfizer says its vaccine remains 100% effective against the coronavirus four months after a second dose in children ages 12-15, according to new data from trial participants. The trial participants had at least six months of follow-up after the second dose, and no serious safetly concerns were noted. Pfizer is seeking full approval of the vaccine for ages 12-15, which is currently being given to children as part of an emergency use authorization. The vaccine has full approval for ages 16 and up. Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla noted in a statement that COVID-19 rates are growing for this age group in many places. “As the global health community works to increase the number of vaccinated people around the world, these additional data provide further confidence in our vaccine’s safety and effectiveness profile in adolescents,” Bourla said.
