American pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly and Co. on Monday said that its rheumatoid arthritis drug baricitinib, branded as Olumiant, shortens the recovery time for COVID-19 patients when combined with Gilead Sciences’ antiviral remdesivir. The trial, which tested 1,000 patients, showed a roughly one-day reduction in recovery time versus just taking remdesivir.
