The World Bank has approved a $90 million loan to Iran to help it deal with the coronavirus pandemic. The aid was approved last month, the AFP reported on Sunday. It will not go into the Iranian budget and will be used “only for procuring additional lifesaving, essential medical equipment to strengthen Iran’s pandemic response,” a World Bank spokesperson told the news service. The loan is on top of a May 2020 loan of $50 million through the Iran COVID-19 Emergency Response Project.
