The Australian state of Victoria on Monday reported 116 new coronavirus infections, the lowest daily rise in seven weeks.
Russia may resume international flights to seven more countries, according to a report by Reuters news agency, citing the Izvestia newspaper. The countries include France, Hungary, Malta, Cyprus, Jordan, Egypt and China’s Shanghai.
Mask-wearing became mandatory in Seoul, the capital of South Korea, on Monday due to a spike in the city’s coronavirus infections. Residents must wear masks at all times while in public except when eating or drinking.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Monday downplayed the impact to Iran’s economy from the novel coronavirus, saying his administration’s “power” had helped the country through the crisis. According to a report on Radio Farda, Rouhani insisted that Iran’s economy had shrunk by only 3%.
The United Arab Emirates on Monday confirmed 390 new coronavirus cases and three additional deaths, the state news agency WAM reported. The overnight case count came after the Gulf state conducted 71,216 additional tests. The total number of cases in the UAE as of Monday stood at 67,007, the Health Ministry said.
The US Food and Drug Administration on Sunday authorized the use of blood plasma in the treatment of COVID-19, the disease brought on by exposure to the coronavirus.
The Israel Airports Authority on Sunday announced that the entry ban on non-Israelis arriving from countries that are not on the COVID-19 safe list will be extended until at least October 1.
