The Israeli Health Ministry on Tuesday evening announced that a total of 61 people had died due to the coronavirus pandemic. There are currently 9,006 confirmed cases in the country.
As of next Sunday morning, Israel will require people to wear masks when going outside. The legal adviser to the country’s Health Ministry, Uri Schwartz, made the announcement on Tuesday.
Sweden confirmed 114 deaths from coronavirus in 24 hours, the single largest daily increase. The number of fatalities stands at 591, with 7,693 confirmed infections.
Spain recorded 3,835 new coronavirus cases between Monday and Tuesday, bringing the total to 140,510. The number of recorded deaths increased by 450, for a total fatality count of 13,798.
UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson spent the night in intensive care with coronavirus. His office said he has been getting oxygen, but is not on a ventilator.
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Tuesday declared a month-long state of emergency and unveiled a record economic stimulus package in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
