1 Soldier Killed, 11 Injured in Damascus Bus Bombing

At least one soldier was killed and 11 injured when a bomb planted on a bus full of Syrian troops driving through Damascus exploded. The explosion occurred on Tuesday morning during rush hour near Omayyad Square, which connects the important buildings in the city. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.

Attacks are rare in the capital, though a bomb attack on an army bus in Damascus on Oct. 20 killed at least 14 people. The country has been embroiled in a civil war since 2011; Government forces have captured the rebel-held areas of the capital since 2018.
