1,000 New Hotel Rooms to Be Built at Dead Sea

The Israel Land Authority and the Israeli Tourism Ministry have announced the winners of two tenders for the construction of four new hotels, which will add about 1,000 new rooms to the Dead Sea area, alongside a new shopping center and a 40,000-square-meter (430,000-square-foot) conference center, in the new tourism area located between Ein Bokek and Hamei Zohar. The development plan will be managed by the Dead Sea Preservation Government Company, the executive arm of the Tourism Ministry. The winners of the tenders include Africa Israel, Fattal Hotels, Elad Hotels and Barclays Israel. Tourism Minister Yariv Levin said, “We are continuing the tourism revolution at the Dead Sea. … This is a great step forward on the road to dramatic change in the region.” According to Dead Sea Preservation Government Company CEO Shimon Daniel, “We are about to begin the stage of building an innovative hotel complex that will change the area and transform the Dead Sea an attractive area on an international scale.”
