At least 60 schoolgirls were killed in a bomb attack on a secondary school in a suburb of Kabul in Afghanistan. Another at least 150 students were injured in the Saturday attack. The Afghan government blamed the Taliban for the attack, but the group denied responsibility, the French news agency AFP reported.
A car bomb reportedly exploded in front of the school, causing the students to run out of the building. Two more bombs then exploded causing the large number of casualties and injuries, according to the report. The school is located in the Dasht-e-Barchi neighborhood, which is home to Hazara Shiites.
Families of the began burying them on Sunday on a hilltop cemetery reserved for victims of attacks against the Hazara community, AFP reported.
The death toll rose to 68 by Sunday afternoon, with all but 7 students in the school, Reuters reported.
The United States currently is pulling its last remaining troops out of Afghanistan.
