5,000 Prisoners in Iran Granted Clemency

More than 5,000 prisoners in Iran were granted clemency to mark a Shiite religious holiday. Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei granted the clemencies on the anniversary of the birth of Imam Reza, a revered Shiite religious figure, which fell on Tuesday. The clemencies were announced on Khamenei’s official website on Saturday.

There was no other information provided on the 5,156 prisoners who were granted clemency or had their sentences shortened.
