Ousted Sudanese president Omar Al-Bashir faces trial for money laundering after military intelligence officers found a stockpile of cash totaling $7 million at his home, the Saudi Arabia-based Arab News reported. He also faces charges of being in the possession of large sums of foreign currency without legal grounds. Prosecutors will question him in Kobar prison, a judicial source was quoted as saying. Bashir was ousted by the military on April 11 after months of protests demanding his resignation following 30 years in office. He rose to power after leading a coup in 1989 and was one of the longest-serving leaders in Africa. The Sudanese military has vowed to oversee a two-year transition period culminating in elections. However, protesters have rejected the move and are still demanding the establishment of a civilian government. Officials from the African Union, as well as a delegation from the protesters, separately held talks with the military council on Saturday about transferring power to a civilian administration.
