Airstrikes Kill 3 in Attacks in Syria Blamed on Israel
Airstrikes attributed to Israel targeting Iranian weapons warehouses in Syria killed three foreign nationals, believed to be Iranians, on Sunday night, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. The Lebanese newspaper Al Ahbar reported on Monday morning that the targets were in the Set Zaynab area near Damascus. They were hit by missiles launched from the Golan Heights and off the Lebanese coast, according to Al Ahbar. On Sunday night, Syrian state TV reported that Syrian air defenses opened fire on missiles launched from inside Israel, just after 11 pm. Residents of Damascus said explosions could be heard near the capital. State TV said one of the Israeli missiles was shot down near the Damascus suburb of Aqraba. A report from Lebanon claimed that Israel was attacking in Syria from the skies of the Lebanese city of Sidon. A total of 10 injuries were reported.
