Bahrain Records Hottest June in Over a Century

Bahrain experienced its hottest June in more than 100 years, a Bahrain News Agency report said on Tuesday. Although summers in the region are typically hot and humid, the country’s Meteorological Directorate said the average temperature in June was 36.3 Celsius (97.3 Fahrenheit), some 3.9 degrees above the long-term normal for that month, and the highest June average since 1902, with 20 days of temperatures over 40 degrees. The hottest day was 45.3 degrees. On average, humidity levels were about 40%. Other countries in the region also experienced sizzling weather in June. Last week, the European Union’s satellite agency announced that the global average temperature for June was the hottest ever documented for the month.
