A delegation of 40 businesspeople from Bahrain, led by the country’s Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism Zayed Alzayani, arrived in Israel on Tuesday for a three-day visit. The focus of the visit is economic ties, trade and tourism between Israel and Bahrain. Alzayani is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and several government ministers during his stay. His visit comes two weeks after Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani visited Israel, the first Bahraini official to do so. Netanyahu reportedly is planning a trip to Bahrain later this month. The two countries in September agreed to normalize relations and signed the Abraham Accords in Washington, DC on September 15. “The opening of direct flights, and the travel of people between the countries, is an essential step towards building peace between our nations. I look forward to hosting the minister and his delegation, showing them a taste of Israel’s scenes and heritage, and introducing them to Israel’s private tourism sector,” Israel’s Tourism Minister Orit Farkash-Hacohen said in a statement after meeting the delegation at Ben-Gurion Airport.
