US Secretary of State Antony arrived in Egypt late Wednesday morning, part of a diplomatic visit to the region to secure the cease-fire between Israel and Hamas, to discuss rebuilding Gaza and to move forward on Israel-Palestinian peace.
He was scheduled to meet in Cairo with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi and Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry.
Blinken arrived in Egypt from meetings on Tuesday with Israeli leaders in Jerusalem and Palestinian leaders in Ramallah. He met on Wednesday morning with Israel’s President Reuven Rivlin before departing.
He is scheduled to travel late on Wednesday to Amman to meet with King Abdullah and other Jordanian officials.
