Brazil Pledges To Evacuate South Americans Stranded by Gaza Crisis

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva declared that Brazil will assist in evacuating South Americans stranded in the Middle East due to the ongoing Gaza crisis. The announcement was made during Lula’s weekly program, Talk With the President.

Lula stated that he had discussions with Commander of the Brazilian Air Force Lieutenant Brigadier Marcelo Kanitz Damasceno about executing the operation. “We will bring back not only Brazilians but also men and women from South America who can’t return,” said Lula.

As of now, the Brazilian Air Force has successfully repatriated 1,413 individuals and 53 pets through eight flights. Approximately 30 Brazilians remain in the Gaza Strip and have yet to be rescued. Their evacuation has been delayed because of an “impasse” with authorities, the president noted.

Lula added that he would continue to advocate for a peaceful resolution to the Gaza crisis.
