Direct Flights Between Bahrain and Israel to Begin in June

Direct flights between Bahrain and Israel will start in June. Gulf Air, the flagship airline of Bahrain, announced that it will provide direct flights between the two countries beginning on June 3.

The direct flights come following the signing in September of the Abraham Accords, which normalized relations between Israel and several Arab and African countries, including Bahrain. Israeli airlines reportedly will announce routes between Tel Aviv and Bahrain soon. Bahraini and Israeli aviation and travel officials have met in recent months in order to facilitate tourism between the two countries.

Meanwhile, Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, which is jointly owned by discount airline Wizz Air and the Abu Dhabi government, began direct flights between Tel Aviv and Abu Dhabi on Sunday. It joins Atihad Airways, which began flights on the Tel Aviv-Abu Dhabi route earlier this month.
