Emirates Airline Posts $5.5 Billion Loss
Emirates airline on Tuesday posted an annual loss of $5.5 billion, its first loss in over 30 years. The loss is blamed on the coronavirus pandemic. Emirates chairman Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum said it is not known how long it will take the airline to recover, Reuters reported, though it could take years.

The Dubai government will continue to help the state-owned airline through the crisis, according to Emirates. It provided $2 billion last year, and has provided $1.1 billion since. The airline, which is dependent on international travel, posted a $288 million profit a year ago.
