Erdogan, Biden Meet on Sidelines of NATO Summit

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said his meeting on Monday with US President Joe Biden on the sidelines of the NATO leadership summit in Brussels was “productive and sincere.” He told reporters following the meeting that “there is no problem that cannot be resolved in Turkey-US relations.”

The leaders discussed cooperation on regional issues, including Syria, Erdogan said. They also discussed Turkey’s purchase of Russian S-400 surface-to-air missile defense system, which caused a crisis in Turkey-US relations and led Washington to impose targeted sanctions in 2019.

Erdogan also told reporters that Biden said he might visit Turkey.

Erdogan also met with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and French President Emmanuel Macron.
