Formal Meeting on Iran Nuclear Negotiations Set in Vienna

Negotiations on the Iran nuclear deal will continue in Vienna on Sunday, according to the European Union. Iran and the world powers will hold a formal meeting that likely will end the current round of negotiations, the fifth since April.

Parties to the negotiations say that an agreement to bring the United States back into the nuclear deal signed in 2015 and to bring Iran back into compliance with its requirements is close but that differences remain.

The US and Iran have been conducting indirect negotiations through the other parties to the negotiations, Russia, China, France, Britain, Germany and the European Union, throughout the talks in Vienna.  The US delegation is located across the street from the hotel where the official negotiations are being held.

The Trump administration pulled the US out of the deal in 2018 and snapped crushing sanctions back on Iran.
