GITEX Opens in Dubai, Including Participation of Israeli Delegation

The annual Gulf Information Technology Exhibition, or GITEX, an annual consumer computer and electronics trade show, exhibition, and conference in Dubai, that draws tens of thousands of participants, opened in person on Sunday. An Israeli delegation of some 200 entrepreneurs and businessmen were scheduled to arrive in Dubai to participate in the event, the largest exhibition held in the Gulf. In addition to a pavilion hosted by Israel, other delegations displaying their technology include Bahrain, Brazil, France, Hong Kong, Japan, Russia, Saudi Arabia and the United States. The event also features some 350 speakers from 30 countries. Participants from more than 60 countries are set to visit the exhibition. On the program is the inaugural UAE-Israel Future Digital Economy Summit, which offers opportunities for business collaborations, investor networking, and ideas sharing. The summit comes in the wake of the normalization of relations between the two countries with the signing in September of the Abraham Accords. The exhibition will continue through December 10 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, and includes precautions to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
