Hamas released a three-minute propaganda video on Saturday evening showing signs of life from hostage soldier Edan Alexander. The video, which is undated but indicates that Alexander has been held captive for 551 days, comes as Jews worldwide gather to mark Passover.
Edan Alexander, a 21-year-old US citizen and lone soldier stationed near the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, was captured along with more than 250 other hostages during a brutal attack by Hamas. This marks the second video released by Hamas featuring Alexander; the previous video aired in November. While the video shows signs of life, Alexander’s family, represented by the Hostages and Missing Families Forum, requested that Israeli media limit the release to a still image instead of the full video.

Truth and understanding
The Media Line's intrepid correspondents are in Israel, Gaza, Lebanon, Syria and Pakistan providing first-person reporting.
They all said they cover it.
We see it.
We report with just one agenda: the truth.

In a statement released by his family, they said, “As we begin Passover, our family in Israel prepares to sit around the Seder table. Our Edan, who bravely served in the Golani Brigade, remains held captive by Hamas. When you celebrate freedom, remember: our celebration is incomplete as long as he and the other 58 hostages are not home.”
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office confirmed that the prime minister personally called Alexander’s parents, expressing empathy for their pain and affirming that “tremendous efforts are underway to return Edan and the rest of the hostages.”
