Woman and IDF Soldier Killed in Hizbullah Rocket Strikes on Northern Israel
A rocket attack launched from Lebanon by Hizbullah terrorists killed a woman in a building near Safed, in northern Israel, the Magen David Adom emergency medical service said on Wednesday. The deadly strike was one of several attacks targeting northern Israeli cities on Wednesday. In addition, the Israeli military said one soldier was killed and several others were injured when a base was hit by rocket fire from Lebanon.
Health officials in Safed reported that eight individuals were injured in the attack on Safed including one in serious condition, one in moderate condition, and six suffering minor injuries. All victims were transferred to Ziv Medical Center for medical treatment. Lebanese media outlets have detailed Israeli artillery’s retaliatory strikes on targets in southern Lebanon, indicating a sharp response to the Hizbullah attacks.
Amid the chaos, emergency services, including firefighters from the Galilee-Golan regional station, were dispatched to extinguish a fire caused by a direct rocket hit in Safed.
The northern region’s vulnerability was underscored by Mateh Asher Regional Council head Moshe Davidovitz, who criticized the government’s handling of the security situation. His statements reflect a growing sentiment among northern residents feeling abandoned amidst the Israel-Hamas War and continuous threats from Hizbullah.
Adding to the tension, Hizbullah’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah, declared that the cross-border shelling would persist until Israel ceases its “aggression” in Gaza. He also warned of further displacements from northern Israel and threatened to escalate Hizbullah’s military response if Israel expands the war.
