Houthi Drone Aimed at Saudi Air Base Intercepted
The Saudi-led coalition in support of the internationally recognized government of Yemen said it intercepted a drone packed with explosives late on Saturday aimed at the southern Saudi citiy of Khamis Mushait. The city is home to King Khalid Air Base. A Houthi military spokesman said the drone hit the base.
On Saturday, the coalition accused the Houthis of fabricating video footage that showed an alleged incursion by its fighters into a Saudi Arabian border area near Al Khoubah in the southern Saudi region of Jazan.
The Houthis have increased their attacks on both civilian and military targets in Saudi Arabia, according to reports.
The coalition also intercepted an explosives-laden drone on Friday. Meanwhile, the Houthis fired several missiles from Yemen in to Saudi territory on Wednesday.
