Houthis Attack Saudi Airport, Killing 1, Wounding 8

Iran-backed Houthi rebels reportedly killed one person and left 21 wounded in a drone attack on Saudi Arabia’s Abha airport on Sunday, the Saudi-led coalition fighting the insurgents in Yemen have said. Houthi-run Al-Masirah TV said the Shi’ite group also attacked Saudi Arabia’s Jizan airport, although the coalition has yet to confirm. This is the second time each of these southern airports has been attacked by the Houthis this month. The first, on the Abha airport, wounded at least two dozen people. The Houthis appear to have been attacking various Saudi assets since May, a month that saw four ships – two of them Saudi-owned – sabotaged off the coast of the United Arab Emirates in operations alleged by US intelligence to have been orchestrated, if not carried out, by Iran. A recent attack on two oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman has also seen western governments pointing the finger at the Islamic Republic. The latest hostilities coincide with the ongoing civil war in Yemen, which has killed tens of thousands of people and has left millions on the brink of starvation.
