As Israel marks the one-year anniversary of the October 7, 2023, attacks, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have released new data detailing their military operations in Gaza, Lebanon, and beyond. According to the IDF, over 17,000 Hamas fighters have been killed in Gaza since the war began, along with 1,000 operatives who infiltrated Israel during the initial assault. The report also states that Israel has struck more than 40,300 targets in Gaza, including 4,700 tunnel shafts used by Hamas.
High-ranking Hamas leaders have been targeted in these strikes, with the IDF confirming the deaths of eight brigade commanders, over 30 battalion commanders, and more than 165 company commanders. The Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry, however, claims nearly 42,000 Palestinians have been killed, though the figure includes both civilians and combatants and cannot be independently verified.

The war has not been confined to Gaza. Hezbollah, the Iran-backed group based in Lebanon, began launching attacks on Israel’s northern border shortly after the October 7 assault. In response, the IDF has escalated its operations in Lebanon, killing more than 800 Hezbollah fighters, including 90 commanders, and striking 11,000 Hezbollah positions. Recent airstrikes by Israel have resulted in the death of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, further intensifying the conflict.
Since the beginning of the war, over 26,000 rockets, missiles, and drones have been launched at Israel from various fronts, including Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, and Iran. Despite Israel’s advanced air defense systems, rockets from Hezbollah on Sunday struck Haifa, injuring several people.
