Iran Calls Nuclear Talks With World Powers ‘Constructive’

Iran called talks in Vienna on Tuesday to revive the United States’ involvement in its 2015 nuclear deal with world powers “constructive.”

“I can say that overall, the meeting was constructive … our next meeting will be on Friday,” the head of the Iranian delegation, Abbas Araghchi, told Iranian media outlets.

The United States did not have a representative at the city’s Imperial and Grand hotels where representatives of Iran, China, Russia, Germany, France and the United Kingdom held their talks, but a delegation led by Special Envoy to Iran Robert Malley is in the city and expected to be involved in the negotiations indirectly. Iran has refused to hold face-to-face negotiations with the US until all sanctions against it are lifted.

US State Department spokesman Ned Price also called the talks “constructive” and a “welcome step.”
