Iran will no longer share with the government of Ukraine evidence from its investigation into the January 8 shooting down of Ukraine International Airlines Flight 752 after audio from the investigation was leaked by Ukrainian media. The plane was shot down by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps shortly after it took off from Tehran Imam Khomeini International Airport in what Iranian President Hassan Rouhani called an “unforgivable mistake.” All 176 passengers and crew were killed. The semiofficial Mehr news agency quoted Hassan Rezaifar, accident investigations director at Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization, as saying on Monday that “the technical investigation team of the Ukrainian airline crash, in a strange move, published the secret audio file of the communications of a pilot of a plane that was flying at the same time as the Ukrainian plane. This action by the Ukrainians led to us not sharing any more evidence with them.” The audio file had been given to Ukrainian experts as evidence in the joint investigative team’s examination of the crash.
