Iranians Protest Trump’s Upcoming Bahrain ‘Workshop’

Iranian state television says tens of thousands of people were marking Quds (Jerusalem) Day, with rallies and marches in some 950 locations. This year’s theme is the condemnation of the upcoming summit in Bahrain, where the Trump Administration says it will unveil economic inducements aimed at convincing the Palestinians to move forward with a US peace plan aimed at solving the Israeli-Palestinian dispute. Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar have said they’ll attend, as will Bahrain, the conference host. The US has also invited Israel, although it’s not clear if there will be Israeli representation. Iran, Russia, China and Turkey said they will not attend. The US has said that economic inducements would also be made available to countries in the region that support the peace plan. Quds Day is marked on the last Friday of Ramadan, and other countries mark it as well.
