Deadly clashes in Baghdad between supporters and opponents of Iraqi Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr have reportedly spread to the city of Najaf in the south of the country.
Footage from the city shows fighting that includes the use of heavy weaponry.
The clashes erupted on Monday in the capital after Sadr announced his departure from the political scene, prompting his supporters to storm the parliament compound in Baghdad’s Green Zone.
