Over 500 demonstrators gathered on Wednesday in Nasiriya to protest the rise in the price of basic food items.
The gathering comes a day after the Iraqi government announced several measures to stem the skyrocketing prices. This includes a monthly allowances for retirees and civil servants, as well as suspending customs duties on food products.
