Israel Under Attack as Iran Fires Rockets in Retaliation for Hezbollah Strikes

Iran launched hundreds of rockets into Israel on Tuesday night, escalating the ongoing conflict between the two nations and their regional allies. The strikes followed Israel’s assassination of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and came after Iran had vowed retaliation. Air raid sirens sounded across Israel, and residents were ordered to stay near bomb shelters as the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) intercepted many of the missiles using its air defense systems.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards claimed responsibility for the missile barrage, framing it as a response to Israel’s recent airstrikes against Hezbollah targets in Lebanon. IDF spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari confirmed that Israel was on high alert and prepared for further escalation, saying the military is “ready and willing to respond to any and all attacks from Iran.”

This attack is one of the most significant since April, when Iran also launched missiles toward Israel, most of which were intercepted by a coalition of nations, including the US, France, and Jordan. US officials have warned that Iran would face “severe consequences” if it continues to launch ballistic missile attacks. US military assets, including an aircraft carrier, are stationed in the region to provide support.

Meanwhile, fighting between Hezbollah and Israel continues to intensify along the Lebanon-Israel border, raising fears of a broader regional conflict. Israeli forces have been conducting limited ground raids in southern Lebanon, targeting Hezbollah infrastructure.
