Israeli Drone Strike Said to Kill Key Hizbullah Figure in Syria

Reports out of Syria say an Israeli attack drone struck at a vehicle in the Syrian Golan Heights on Thursday, killing one person. State television said the victim was a “civilian,” but other reports identified him as Emad Tawil, a member of the Lebanese Shi’ite group Hizbullah, responsible for overseeing an infrastructure in the Golan aimed at carrying out attacks against Israel. The Israeli defense establishment was mum on the subject, not usually commenting on attacks against targets in Syria that are attributed to it – although earlier this week it admitted to having hit a facility there used by Islamic Jihad. At the time of the attack, the Palestinian group was in the middle of an escalation across the Israel-Gaza Strip border. Earlier on Thursday, Israel said its air force downed a drone that had come from the Palestinian enclave.
