The final two Palestinian prisoners who escaped from Israel’s Gilboa Prison early this month were recaptured on Saturday night in the West Bank city of Jenin. Munadil Nafayat and Iham Kamamji are both members of the Islamic Jihad terrorist organization. The four other escapees were arrested a week ago in Israel.
“Both terrorists surrendered after being surrounded by security forces that acted precisely based on accurate intelligence,” according to the Israel Defense Forces, who conducted a joint operation with the Shin Bet security agency and the Israel Police.

Fouad Kamamji, Iham’s father, told The Associated Press that his son had called him after Israeli security forces surrounded the hideout and said he would surrender in order to protect the civilians living in the house.
Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett in a statement called the apprehending of the two prisoners “an impressive, sophisticated and quick operation.” He added that “what has broken down – it is possible to rectify.”
