Live-fire Traded across Israeli-Lebanese Border

Israel’s military says an army ambulance and base in the North were hit by fire originating in Lebanon on Sunday, hours after the IDF was reported to have launched several artillery rounds toward a disputed border area where clashes have often taken place. Issuing a statement, it identified the incoming fire as anti-tank rounds, saying there were no casualties. Iran-backed Hizbullah took responsibility. The IDF retaliated with mortar fire into Lebanon. Tensions have spiked since Israel killed two Hizbullah operatives it said were preparing to launch a drone with explosives toward the Jewish state from Syria. Hizbullah accused it last week of launching explosive drones toward its media office in Beirut. The office was damaged but no one was hurt. Israel refused to comment but began moving troops and artillery toward its northern border – until today probably more as a message than for war.
