Maccabiah 2025 Launches With Big Names and Bold Vision

The 2025 Maccabiah officially kicked off Sunday evening with a festive launch event at Kfar Maccabiah in Ramat Gan, setting the stage for what organizers say will be the largest and most meaningful Maccabiah in history. Scheduled for July 8–22, the international Jewish sporting event will bring together over 8,000 athletes from 55 countries to compete across 45 disciplines.

The opening ceremony, set for July 10 at Jerusalem’s Teddy Stadium, will feature performances by Itay Levy, Yuval Raphael, Eden Golan, Idan Raichel, and Shahar Saul. Anna Aronov and Assi Azar will host the event, and the torch will be lit by Olympic and Paralympic medalists Raz Hershko and Asaf Yasur.

Tel Aviv-Jaffa, returning as a host city nearly a century after the first Maccabiah, will stage sports such as beach volleyball, surfing, and rhythmic gymnastics. The city will also host “Expo Maccabiah City” — a five-day interactive sports and culture festival from July 14–18.

“Tel Aviv-Jaffa is proud to host the Maccabiah — an international sporting event that connects Jewish communities from all corners of the globe,” said Mayor Ron Huldai. “Especially during this period, sports remind us of the power of partnership, pride, and connection.”

Chairman of the Maccabiah Assaf Goren described the games as “a symbol of our hope, restoration, and resilience,” adding that the 2025 event will also commemorate October 7 and the Swords of Iron War.
