Netanyahu: Iran Erased Nuke Site Uncovered by Mossad

Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu claims that Iran demolished several buildings that a Mossad raid on a Tehran warehouse in January 2018 revealed had been used in a quest to develop nuclear weapons. “When Iran realized that we uncovered the site, here’s what they did,” he told reporters gathered at Israel’s Foreign Ministry on Monday. “They destroyed the site. They just wiped it out.” He displayed before-and-after photos of the site near Abadeh, in south-central Iran. “I call on the international community to wake up, to realize that Iran is systematically lying,” Netanyahu said. Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif quickly tweeted: “The possessor of real nukes cries wolf.” The Israeli leader is in a close race for reelection next week and has made a number of high-profile statements highlighting Iranian threats, whether they’re connected to Tehran’s drive to become a nuclear power or its support for proxies operating close to Israel’s borders in Syria and Lebanon.
