Palestinians Arrested in Riot at Damascus Gate After Ramadan Prayers

At least four Palestinians were arrested on Saturday night at Damascus Gate in the Old City of Jerusalem during rioting on the first night of Ramadan. The rioters threw rocks and bottles at police and set fire to garbage bins.  The riots were diminished from last year’s, according to reports.

The police are operating in the area of Damascus Gate, but they have not set up barriers to prevent Muslim worshippers to gather at the gate’s basin after Ramadan prayers.

The prayers at the Al-Aqsa Mosque complex took place on Friday without incident.
