Two jihadi terrorists planned attacks on US and Israeli diplomats, as well as American soldiers deployed at a military base in southern Jordan, the Hashemite kingdom’s state-owned al-Rai newspaper reported on Tuesday. Jordanian intelligence foiled the planned attacks, which was to have been carried out using firearms and knives. The suspects have been arrested and will stand trial in a state security court. This is just the latest of many attacks that have been planned by jihadists in Jordan and thwarted by local security forces. Last year, Jordanian officials said the government had foiled a plan by the Islamic State group to launch a series of attacks on security installations, shopping malls and religious moderates.
