Saudi Coalition Strikes Houthis After Rocket Kills 3 in Kingdom

The Saudi-led military coalition in support of Yemen’s internationally recognized government has launched a large-scale retaliation Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen following an uptick in violence in the country that has suffered from civil war since 2014.

The retaliatory air strike by the Saudi coalition on Yemen killed three civilians and wounded six in Ajama, a town northwest of the Sanaa, which is held by the Houthis. It came after a rocket fired by the Houthi rebels struck and killed two people inside Saudi Arabia.

The Saudi-led coalition said shortly afterward the strike that it is “preparing for a large-scale military operation,” AFP reported.

Meanwhile, the United Nations says Yemen is the world’s worst humanitarian crisis.
