Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the de facto ruler of the country, began a tour of Gulf Arab states ahead of the annual meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council, or GCC. The GCC summit is set for later this month in Riyadh.

The prince was set to arrive in Oman on Monday. From there he will visit the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar and Kuwait, according to Saudi media. While in Oman the prince is scheduled to sign an agreement to establish the Omani-Saudi Coordination Council. Joint initiatives in the areas of energy and business also are expected to be signed in Oman. Omani Sultan Haitham bin Tariq visited Saudi Arabia in July.
